Research applications

  • Days-long rise in growth hormone and IGF-1 (placebo-controlled trials in healthy adults)
  • Binding to albumin to last longer in the blood (DAC linker)
  • Growth in mice lacking natural GHRH

What it is

CJC-1295 is a lab-made, longer-lasting version of the hormone that tells the body to release growth hormone. Two small human trials measured its effect on hormone levels. It was never approved.

More detail

CJC-1295 is a synthetic analog of growth hormone-releasing hormone (GHRH). It is built on the first 29 amino acids of GHRH with several substitutions plus a chemical linker, called DAC (drug affinity complex), that lets it attach to albumin in the blood. That attachment stretches its half-life from minutes to several days. In two placebo-controlled trials in healthy adults it raised growth hormone and IGF-1 levels for days after a single administration, and a mouse study examined growth in animals lacking natural GHRH. It never reached approval. The name is also used loosely for a related peptide without DAC (modified GRF 1-29), which is a different molecule.
